Tinsel is a sweet 3-year old Maine Coon mix with a medium-length black coat, big fluffy feet that have a hint of brown undertones, and big round eyes highlighted with just a splash of green.  When she sits tall with her tail wrapped delicately around her feet, she is simply beautiful.

As gorgeous as Tinsel is, she is a very down-to-earth girl.  Though very shy, she is extremely sweet, playful, and a little silly.  She loves pets, especially on her head and neck, and will happily sit next to her person making biscuits on a nice fluffy blanket or plush cat bed.  She enjoys interactive play with a wand toy, and will toss around her toy mice and crinkle ball when playing alone.  During playtime, she will flop over hard and wiggle around on her back near her human, and even enjoys a little belly rub.  She also likes a good brushing to keep her gorgeous coat shiny and soft.

Tinsel is very timid and spooks easily. She will need a special family who will be patient with her and help her to get used to her new surroundings, which may take a few months.  While she is settling in, she does enjoy her new humans’ company and appreciates pets, even in her hiding spot.  Tinsel would adjust most quickly and be happiest in a quiet home with just her humans as her best pals.  She appears to be fearful of other cats, but may not mind a small, easy-going, cat-friendly dog.

Tinsel is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV.  She is litter box trained and is quite dedicated to assuring every deposit is thoroughly buried, sometimes resulting in well-sculpted piles of litter to one side in the box.  The builders of the Great Pyramids have nothing on her! A large, uncovered box is recommended so as not to squelch her creative architectural spirit.

Tinsel is located in Reston, VA.  If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application on our web site: http://www.omcrescue.org/form/adoption_application.php .  You may also e-mail us at info@omcrescue.org if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Tinsel.
