Squirrel is a 2-year old Maine Coon mix with a gorgeous brown tabby coat and whiskers a mile long! Squirrel was brought into rescue from a shelter in Southern Maryland in October, and she was not entirely certain that humans were a good thing. With several months in the loving care of her foster family, Squirrel is learning that humans can be pretty nice and she is now ready to become part of a family of her very own.
Squirrel is an active girl who likes to explore and find her own special hiding spots. She isn't a huge fan of balls and mouse toys, but she LOVES the ribbon toy and can play with that forever. Several interactive play sessions a day with her favorite toy will be a great way to bond with her. When she isn’t playing, Squirrel’s favorite place to spend her time in her foster home is a chair near a window.
Squirrel wants to love her people, but sometimes she gets so excited that she's not sure how. She gets happy when her foster family gets home and enjoys a few pets, but then likes to have her space. Squirrel probably won’t be a lap kitty, but she will be a great fit for someone who would like a beautiful, playful cat housemate.
Because Squirrel is still learning the best way to show her love, she will need an experienced forever family who will be patient with her. Squirrel will tolerate other cats, but the kitties should have enough space to be apart when they want to be. A home with no more than one other cat would be best. Given consistent love and some positive reinforcement, Squirrel should blossom into a lovely companion.
