The great philosopher, Socrates, is quoted, “Thou shouldst eat to live; not live to eat”. Well, that was all fine and good for a well-fed philosopher, but poor Socrates, the cat, had done neither for a very long time. Rescued on the very day he was to meet his end at the shelter, Socrates came to Only Maine Coons Rescue just skin and bones. Today, Socrates has filled out nicely, is healthy, and continues to LOVE to eat! In fact, he is quite chatty when it is feeding time letting his foster mom know that it is time to eat, “RIGHT MEOW!” Socrates is a serious lap cat that loves to be petted and have his head and those seriously poofy Maine Coon-esque cheeks rubbed. The vet estimates he is between 10-12 years old. Socrates has a beautiful classic brown tabby/white coat and a very wise expression (hence his name). Socrates would prefer to be the one and only furry love of your life, but he would do fine with another cat. He will feel more comfortable in a home with no dogs or very young children. Socrates is neutered, declawed, and up-to-date on his vaccinations, and he has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He is also litter box trained and wants to use clay litter. Because he was declawed, the sand litter hurts his paws. More about SocratesIs Not Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
