Hattie and Sophie are two sweet, affectionate purebred Maine Coon girls who found themselves homeless when their mom died. Hattie is 13 and Sophie is 10. They may be sisters from another mister, but these two are highly bonded to each other and need to be adopted together. They even choose to sleep curled up in a little kennel together every night. As the girls are older, Hattie and Sophie would do best in a quiet home with no young children.
Sophie is a true love bug who wants to be with you and in your lap or curled up on your pillow when you sleep. Sophie can be scared easily, therefor if her new home has other cats, they will need to be docile and friendly, otherwise Sophie will run and hide from them. She would likely not care for being around dogs. Hattie is a loveable girl, too, and has been comfortable around the other cats in her foster home. Sophie is a very healthy lady. Hattie, however, after years as a breeding show cat, has now been diagnosed with mammary cancer. After a thorough veterinary evaluation and testing after coming into rescue, it was decided that any surgical or chemotherapy treatment would not likely extend her expected life span and, further, would be detrimental to her quality of life. Hattie is currently in good health and feeling well, and her recommended way-ahead is providing lots of love, comfort and supportive care as any symptoms may arise. Her prognosis is unknown, but with a lovely new home and extra-special family to care for her, she may have another year or two to enjoy being with Sophie and soaking up love beyond measure from her new family. Hattie and Sophie will need a very special new family to see them though her time ahead. If you are interested in learning more, their foster mom will be happy to discuss their needs with you.
