It's crazy to think that a kitty as gorgeous as Spruce was found living on the streets. Thankfully a community cat caretaker noticed her because she appeared to be injured, favoring one leg when she would walk. The concerned citizen was able to trap Spruce and bring her to BARCS where she could receive the medical care she needed. She's been a sweet girl, but she was clearly down and depressed at our shelter, so we quickly sent her to foster in the meantime. Unfortunately, due to Spruce's medical, she really needs rescue. Upon examination, our vets noted that Spruce had a wound on her left hind leg. Due to this wound being of an unknown origin, Spruce has to be on a mandatory precautionary 4-month quarantine, during which she cannot interact with other animals. Based on leg x-rays from our partnering Franky Fund hospital, there was concern for metastasis. A left hind amputation was performed and a sample was sent out for biopsy. She'll need repeat chest rads in a few weeks and we're awaiting immunohistochemistry results to determine next steps. A full medical summary can be provided upon request. Spruce is comfortable for now, but due to her need for continued medical care and monitoring, we are looking for urgent rescue. This pretty girl would make a great addition to any home, and she is available immediately for rescue pick-up. Special Needs: Tri Pod kitty, with suspicion of lymphoma |
