Eleven-year-old Lani has been looking up into the heavens, which bear her beautiful Hawaiian name, wishing for a new family to call her own.  Lani came into rescue in May 2020 mourning the sudden loss her beloved human.  Despite her sadness, Lani is a friendly, chatty girl who wants nothing more than to be with her human.

Lani’s most purrfect evening is being snuggled up next to her foster mom on the couch or sleeping next to mom’s head, purring loudly as she soaks up lots of pets.  Lani craves attention and follows her foster mom around the house (even into the bathroom – it’s a cat thing!), talking up a storm and wanting to be near her.  In her long, silky, grey-tabby coat with the sweetest little white muzzle and big round green eyes, Lani is as beautiful as she is affectionate.

Lani does have her opinions about other members of the feline species – she tolerates them but would rather they not exist.  She gets her pretty fur in quite a fluff when the other kitties in her foster home get too close (not that they mean anything by it). That said she lives peacefully most of the time with her 7 feline roommates.  We don’t know if she has experienced dogs, but based on her reaction to her current feline housemates, she probably would prefer to be an only pet. She wants her human family all to herself!

As happens to some cats of a certain age, Lani has been diagnosed with diabetes.  It is being well managed with a prescription diet and insulin injections twice per day and she is a very healthy girl.  Lani is so sweet that she doesn’t even mind getting the little needle pricks every day.  She takes them right in stride!  Lani’s new family must be as brave about giving shots and Lani is getting them.  It’s easy to learn and your vet can show you how to do it.

Lani has been spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV.  And of course, this pretty girl had excellent litter box manners.  Her long hair can get a little tangled, so she does require periodic combing.  She doesn’t love it, but she’s a good girl and puts up with it for the sake of her human.

Lani is located in Brick, NJ.  If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an adoption application for her at: https://omcrescue.org/forms/form?formid=6177 .
