As penned by Tolkien in “The Lord of the Rings”, the name Arwen means “noble maiden”. What a fitting name for beautiful 11-year old Arwen, a Maine Coon mix with a gentle spirit and loving personality. Arwen is thought to be pure bred, but does not have papers to document her pedigree. Regardless, she is as loving as the day is long, adores being with her people as much as possible, and purrs constantly in delight at having someone to love and care for her.
Arwen is a sensitive soul and is frightened by the dogs in her foster home. She also is not terribly fond of the other cats so would be happiest in a home in which she is her family’s one and only pet.
Arwen has been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which is successfully managed by a special diet. Her IBS does make her a thin little lady, but otherwise, she is very healthy.
Arwen has been spayed, is up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is a very tidy young lady and always uses her litter box.
While not officially a Maine Coon/mix, Sammy came to Only Maine Coons Rescue with another kitty friend from the same household. At 11 years old, Sammy is a long-time cancer survivor, having had one of her back legs removed when she was a youngster. Since then, Sammy has been a healthy, active girl getting along just fine on 3 legs.
Sammy loves lounging luxuriously on her human’s bed in her formal evening attire…a little black dress with white embellishments…soaking up all of the love and attention she can get. Of course, late-afternoon catnip-tinis and tuna hors d'oeuvres are always appreciated! Sammy does have a bit of trouble negotiating her way to high places so she has a set of steps that will go to her new home with her to make sure she can get up onto HER new bed with ease.
