Sterling was returned to OMC 4 months after adoption because he was being bullied by other cats in the home.

ADOPTION PENDING:

Sterling is a 3-year old old pure bred Maine Coon, with pedigree papers, in search of a loving family to call his very own. Sterling is a dapper fellow in a stunning silver and white coat; though he is blind in his right eye, his left eye shines a bright soft green.

Sterling is a sweet, but shy young man, still working on being comfortable with his foster family. He is very playful when he thinks no one is looking. Sterling loves food, so his foster mom is working with treats to help him feel more at ease. He is most relaxed perching on a high spot where he feels safe. Sudden movements can startle him, likely due to his restricted vision. Once he can get a good look at what is happening and knows who is in the room with him, he relaxes and will allow a few pets. Sterling is an affectionate fellow, just very timid. He needs a special family who will be patient with him, giving him time to come out of his shell.

Medically, Sterling is in great health and his blind eye is stable, causing him no discomfort. The blindness was caused by an accumulation of scar tissue resulting from an outbreak of the feline herpes virus. Sterling possibly could have future outbreaks of the virus, therefore it is best for him to go to a home with no other cats, or with cats who are known to have been exposed to the virus.

Sterling enjoys the company of other cats, and seems to like dogs as well.

Sterling has been neutered, is up-to-date on his vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He is a very tidy gentleman and always uses his litterbox.
